the care you deserve.
Victoria mcdonald, Granddaughter of Dora Vika Akamu of Hawai’i
Founder of Akamu Wellness.
It began with Dora Vika Akamu, Victoria's grandmother, who was born, raised, and lived in Waipi’o Valley on the Big Island of Hawai’i. It was during a moment of meditation that Victoria felt the strong pull of her ancestors calling her back home. Following her lineage, she has found herself on Kaua’i, where she is inspired to create a sanctuary for healing and cultural exploration, welcoming all who seek solace.
With over 15 years of experience in yoga, Victoria has a diverse background that includes working in luxury hotels and restaurants, sustainable real estate development, sales, as well as juggling the roles of mother, wife, and entrepreneur. She is deeply committed to sustainability, organic living, nature, mentoring, and sharing the rich traditions of her Hawaiian heritage with others. Witnessing the joy of people experiencing something new is a passion of hers.
Victoria's yoga classes range from gentle yin flows to challenging vinyasa sequences, catering to practitioners of all levels. Victoria believes the best teachers are ourselves and her students. Although she has studied with many international yoga teachers and schools, she believes the real teachings come from your own practice. Listen to her guided meditation podcasts available on Come Together Wellness through Spotify and Apple Music. Known for her nurturing yet bold presence, Victoria has a way of making everyone feel safe, supported, and empowered in her presence. After her daughter was born she began teaching mom and baby yoga classes which in turn led her to writing and implementing yoga and meditation curriculums into schools all throughout the United States.
She extends an invitation to all to discover a slice of paradise on Kauai, where the healing scents and vibrant culture of Hawaii await. Regardless of age, shape, or size, everyone is encouraged to join, as Victoria believes that each body is unique and deserving of care and attention.
